"Gris" is the French word for gray and describes the color of these grapes, which can also create a rosé wine. Known as Pinot Grigio in Italy ("Grigio" is Italian for gray) this is an easy-drinking and food-friendly wine.
This grape is famous in the Rhône Valley in France, where it creates incredibly complex white wines, with a slightly off-dry "creamy" texture. Sometimes blended with red wine to add more acidity and structure.
